Archive of TLA Award Recipients
Since 1960, the Texas Library Association has honored and recognized excellence in librarianship and outstanding contributions to Texas Libraries through awards presented annually at the TLA spring conference. Among the recipeints of TLA Awards are dedicated and innovative young librarians as well as seasoned and distinguished leaders of the library community. The association awards spotlight specific recent accomplishments as well as extended service over a career; projects as well as leadership; lay as well as professional contributions.
In 2001 Laura Bush was presented with an Honorary Life Membership.
In 1995 Jean T. Hamrick and Joe McCord were recognized for Meritorius Service.
Complete listings of past TLA Award recipients can be accessed by using the menu in the left column. The Association depends on members to identify individuals, organizations, and projects worthy of recognition for having advanced the cause of Texas libraries. Nominations are accepted each fall for deliberation by a TLA Awards Committee. Every worthy librarian or project has the potential to win. The TLA Awards page has details regarding eligibility, criteria, and the nomination process.
