TMR was founded by Dale Cluff in 1991 under the auspices of the Colleges and
Universities Libraries Division (CULD). Past Chairs and Co-chairs include: Dale
Cluff, Angie Quiros, and Carla Felsted, Nancy Cunningham, and Sue Sappington.
The present chair is Dale Cluff.
- Foster cooperation among library professionals in Texas and Mexico.
- Provide the means for the exchange of ideas, experiences,and resources
between Texan and Mexican librarians.
- Enhance communication between Texan and Mexican librarians for the benefit
of library patrons in both communities.
- Hosted 5 leading Mexican librarians and educators at TLA conference in
1992
- Provided scholarships to six Mexican librarians to visit Texas libraries
over the years 1993-1996
- Promoted attendance at the Trinational Foro Conference
- Published an article on TMR's history, objectives and goals. (Texas Library
Journal, Spring 1996)
- Presented program "Not-So-Distant Neighbors: Mexican Libraries and Information
Resources", at TLA Annual Conference in April, 1996. (Guest speakers included
Dr. Jesus Lau and Daniel Mattes).
- Organized trip for 11 Texan librarians to visit academic and public libraries
in Monterrey, Mexico in May, 1996.
- Organized trip for 15 Texan librarians to the Monterrey International Book
Fair in Monterrey, Mexico in October, 1996. Three TMR committee members presented
workshops at the conference for Mexican librarians.
- Awarded grant from the Mexico/USA Culture Foundation
in October, 1996 for $9,750 dollars to implement an exchange
program for Texan and Mexican librarians.
