TLA Texas Voter Survey on Libraries

The Texas Library Association (TLA) is proud to announce the results of a statewide poll of registered voters on Texas public and school libraries. As the survey findings reveal, the vast majority of Texans value their school and public libraries and support increased funding for them.

KRC conducted 1201 telephone interviews with a random sample of Texas voters from October 17 to November 2, 2008 on behalf of Texas Library Association. The margin of error for the entire sample is +/-2.8 percentage points.

Library Funding
Texas voters support increasing funding for both school and public libraries.

"My public library deserves more funding." % Agree:

Texas voters agree public libraries are a good value for the tax dollar (94%, including 70% who strongly agree) and deserve more funding (87%, including 62% who strongly agree).

Strong majorities support increasing public funding for both public (81%) and school (82%) libraries. In fact, at least seven in ten voters across every demographic, geographic and political segment support increased funding for both public and school libraries.
