Round Tables
The
24 TLA Round Tables reflect the diverse interests of the
Association's members.
- Acquisitions
and Collection Development Round Table
seeks to improve acquisitions in libraries, to encourage the exchange of
ideas and techniques among libraries, and to foster relations with other
branches of library service, such as publishers and vendors.
- Archives
and Local History Round Table seeks to further the activities of
libraries, museums, and local governments, which collect and preserve
historic material and disseminate historical information about Texas.
- Automation
and Technology Round Table promotes the use of technology for
networking and resource sharing as well as administrative and technical
support functions.
- Black
Caucus Round Table promotes library services to African-Americans
and promotes the participation of African-American librarians at all levels
of the profession and the Association.

Cataloging and Metadata Round Table
(formerly Texas
Regional Group of Catalogers and Classifiers) offers
individuals interested in cataloging and classification an opportunity to
exchange ideas, learn about new developments, and discuss problems in the
field.

Children's
Round Table promotes library service for children and young people
and endeavors to stimulate interest in the literature for this age group.

Digital Libraries Round Table
promotes digital and data services by Texas academic, public, school, and
special libraries and librarians.

Doo-Wop Intergalactic Round Table provides a forum to bring cultural
enlightenment and to restore pitch, harmony, and levity to TLA.

Electronic
Resources Serials Management
(formerly Serials)
Round Table (E-SMART) promotes and improves serials development and fosters
relations among libraries, publishers, vendors, and other library
organizations.

Friends of School Libraries of Texas
promotes advocacy for school libraries in the state.

Genealogy
Round Table promotes and represents the
activities of Texas librarians in the field of genealogy.

Government
Documents Round Table stimulates interest in government documents
and the improvement of bibliographic and reference service for document
collections.
- Interlibrary
Loan and Resource Sharing Round Table promotes the improvement of
interlibrary service Texas and fosters interlibrary cooperation among Texas
libraries.

Library
Friends, Trustees, and Advocates Round Table promotes the
development of library services and provides for the exchange of ideas and
experiences among library trustees and library supporters.
- Library
Instruction Round Table provides a forum for discussion of
activities, programs, and problems of instruction in the use of libraries or
information literacy; to contribute to the education and training of
librarians for library instruction; to promote instruction in the use of
libraries as an essential library service; and to serve as a channel of
communication on instruction in the use of libraries.

Services to the Spanish Speaking Round Table promotes library services to
Spanish speaking populations.
- Library
Support Staff Round Table promotes continuing education
opportunities for library support staff and promotes their participation at
all levels of the profession and the Association.
- Media
and Related Technologies Round Table encourages communication among
librarians offering audio-visual service in academic, public, school, and
special libraries.

New
Members Round Table orients new librarians in the profession and
acquaints them with TLA. It fosters a feeling of greater responsibility
among the Association's newer members for the development of librarianship
in Texas.
- Reference
Round Table encourages the advancement of information,
bibliographic, and research services in all types of libraries.

Small
Community Libraries Round Table addresses the needs of directors,
staff, and trustees of libraries serving communities with a population of
less than 10,000 persons.
- Storytelling
Round Table promotes an appreciation of the art and tradition of
storytelling, particularly its uses in the library setting; exposes TLA
members to storytelling through education and performance; and encourages
TLA members to share stories and storytelling.

Supervision,
Management, and Administration Round
Table (SMART, formerly
Adminstration Round Table), helps to find solutions for administrative problems,
offers forums for presenting research and comments on administrative
procedures, promotes top-quality library service, and encourages programs
for continuing education for library administrators.
- TALL
Texans Round Table provides a forum for TALL Texan Institute alumni
and others interested in leadership development to promote leadership
development activities for Texas librarians.
- Texas
Professional Association for Library Sales Round Table
(T-PALS) promotes greater
communication between librarians and sales representatives.
