All nominations must be submitted by July 25.

For the 2026 TLA Executive Board election cycle the Nominating Committee will recommend a slate of eight (8) candidates (two for each open position) to the current Executive Board to stand for election by the membership in 2026:

Candidacy is open to any TLA member in good standing (current 2025 membership) who resides in Texas.

Please be mindful of existing officer terms and commitments to TLA units or standing committees before going through the application process. TLA encourages our volunteers to grow in their leadership roles, please discuss plans with other officers to avoid surprises.

The Texas Library Association is governed by a 10-member Executive Board which includes the president, president-elect, past-president, treasurer, ALA councilor, and five representatives-at-large. The executive director serves as secretary and is an ex-officio member of the board.  The Executive Board recommends matters of policy and budget to Council, and  members are elected annually by TLA membership.

The Executive Board meets quarterly. In-person meetings are in March at the TLA Annual Conference,  in July at the Officer Governance Training & Workshop, and in October.  A virtual meeting is held in January, and other virtual meetings may be called as needed.  Executive Board members are responsible for their  travel and registration to the Annual Conference and Officer Training Workshop. Dates are subject to change. Travel stipends are available as needed for the October meeting.
