Empowering Libraries to Make Summer Programming Unforgettable.

The Summer at the Library Grant Program is designed to support libraries in expanding and enhancing their summer programming. By providing financial assistance, this grant helps libraries create engaging reading experiences, develop impactful programs, offer outreach and learning opportunities, and reach more community members. The grants are funded by the generous donations received in during the 2025 Summer at the Library H-E-B check stand campaign and are open to all library types providing summer programming.

This grant is intended to:

  • Foster literacy and learning during the summer months
  • Support innovative programming and events.
  • Increase access to books, digital resources, and reading materials.
  • Strengthen community partnerships and outreach efforts.

How to Apply:

  1. Applications for 2026 grants are open.
  2. Provide details about your library, proposed summer reading program, and budget allocation.
  3. Application deadline is in April 18, 2026.

Grant recipients will be notified in May.

The grant is open to TLA members who work in any type of library in Texas. TLA Membership is required from at least one employee from the library to apply.

Libraries can use the grant funding for:

  •  Programming & Events
  • Staff & Volunteer Training
  • Technology & Digital Resources
  • Marketing & Outreach
  • Other innovative initiatives that enhance summer reading

Grant Disbursement & Reporting

  • Funds will be disbursed upon award confirmation.
  • Grant recipients are required to submit a final report by November 1, 2026, detailing program outcomes, impact, and fund usage.
