The Black Caucus Round Table (BCRT) is excited to invite Black professionals, paraprofessionals, and students to apply for a stipend of up to $500 to offset the costs of conference registration and BCRT Brunch tickets for attending the Texas Library Association Annual Conference. The purpose of these stipends is to further the professional growth of Black library workers and students in the state of Texas by granting funding for registration fees and conference expenses.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To qualify, applicants must be:

  • A Black professional, paraprofessional, or student in the library science field
  • Currently or formerly employed by a Texas library, or currently enrolled in a Texas
  • Library Science program.
  • A registered member of the Texas Library Association in 2026
  • An active member of the Black Caucus Round Table

 

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA

To accept this stipend, applicants must:

  • Attend the BCRT Author Brunch (ticketed event) and BCRT Reception (ticketed event) during TLA Annual Conference
  • Volunteer at the BCRT booth at the TLA Annual Conference
  • Give a brief presentation at a Black Caucus Round Table virtual meeting discussing their takeaways from the TLA Annual Conference 

Moreover, recipients are strongly encouraged to attend BCRT meetings, events and activities throughout the following year.

 

TIMELINE

  • September – Application form available
  • December 15, 11:59 PM – Application deadline
  • January 12 – Notifications will be sent to all applicants and the TLA office
