Melody Kelly Stipend – TLA Annual Conference

The Melody Kelly stipend will be awarded to one division member in a support staff position, which will allow the recipient to register for the TLA Annual Conference at no cost, not including any additional ticketed event fees. The purpose of the stipend is to encourage support staff membership in TLA and CULD.

Applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Be employed in a support staff position at an academic library in Texas.
  • Be a current TLA and CULD member.
  • Attend and be recognized at the Spring CULD Membership/Business Meeting (virtual).
  • Agree to serve on the following year’s selection committee for the stipend award.

CULD MLIS Scholarship

CULD is pleased to offer an academic scholarship of $500 to assist one library school student with the costs of attending graduate school in pursuit of a Master’s—or Ed.D./Ph.D.-level library or information science degree. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage student membership in TLA and CULD and to support students intending to become academic librarians.

Applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Reside in Texas and attend an ALA-accredited library education program pursuing a library or information science degree. Full-time and part-time students are eligible.
  • Be a current, paid member of TLA and CULD. An ALA/TLA joint student membership is also available at one low price.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to academic librarianship and articulate a vision for their future.
  • Possess strong written communication skills.
  • Agree to serve on the following year’s selection committee for the stipend award.

Please read: If selected as the recipient of the CULD MLIS Scholarship, you will be required to submit a copy of your unofficial transcript.

TALL Texans Stipend

The TALL Texans Leadership Development Institute (TALL Texans) is a transformational program that helps participants learn and embrace their potential to take new initiatives for their institutions, profession, and stakeholders.

To be considered for one of 4 TALL Texans stipends from CULD, you must be a:
    • Texas resident;
    • TLA member in good standing;
    • CULD member and volunteer on a CULD committee
    • Supporting expenses associated with attending the TALL Texans Leadership Development Institute
