TLA Scholarships

Supporting library education, encouraging future librarians.

Ray C. Janeway Scholarship: $2,000

  • Texas resident;
  • Attained at least a B average during the last two years of a baccalaureate program;
  • Accepted as a graduate student at a Texas ALA-accredited, or Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) library education program.

Vivian Greenfield Award: $1,500

  • Texas resident;
  • TLA member in good standing;
  • Supporting educational endeavors reinforcing work with youth. This can include, but is not limited to professional development activities (like taking a course or attending a conference), implementing a new idea in the workplace, performing a study, and more.

Van Dusen-Kaiser-LaBoon Scholarship: $1000

  • Awarded in even-numbered years;
  • Texas resident;
  • Pursuing graduate studies leading to a career as school librarian;
  • Attained at least a B average during the last two years of a baccalaureate degree program;
  • Accepted as a graduate student at a Texas ALA accredited, or Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) library education program.

Walter H. Escue Memorial Scholarship: $500

  • Texas resident;
  • Concentrating studies in Technical Services, Systems Administration, or Library Automation;
  • Attained at least a B average during the last two years of a baccalaureate degree program;
  • Accepted as a graduate student at a Texas ALA-accredited, or Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) library education program.

TLA Summer School Scholarship: $500

  • Texas resident;
  • Attained at least a B average during the last two years of a baccalaureate degree program;
  • Must be registered for MLS degree courses during a summer session at a Texas ALA-accredited, or Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) library education program. (While applicants may be enrolled year round, the scholarship applies only to the summer session.)

Escue Conference Stipend: $500

  • Awarded to library paraprofessional employee. Recipients must reside in Texas and be TLA members in good standing.
