Nominations are sought each spring to honor a small community library director or librarian. Selection of the Small Community Librarian of the Year focuses on what the nominees do for their community and the betterment of humankind; and also on how they do so well with what they have (especially important during this financial age). Programming, grants, support of the community, innovative marketing — these are important factors in determining the year’s honoree. The winner will be honored during the TLA Annual Conference.

Qualifications

The honoree must be:

  • A current member of SCLRT; and
  • A librarian in a library with an under 12,000-service population.

Submitting a Nomination

Anyone can nominate any librarian, even themselves, as long as they meet the few qualifications listed above.

Please prepare a document (maximum of two pages) containing narrative information about your nominee, including why she/he should be considered for the Librarian of the Year Award. Remember to cover such aspects as library initiatives, programming, innovative marketing, creative use of limited resources, community involvement, etc.
