Update: 87th Texas Legislative Session

Lawmakers return to Austin on January 12 to open the 87th Texas Legislative Session. Like all other organizations, the Texas Legislature has been grappling with how to conduct business effectively, and safely during COVID-19. While details are scarce, we do know that access to the Capitol will be limited. The Legislature is facing a budget deficit, and must also tackle redistricting, in addition to other issues such as healthcare, and public education. Join TLA’s Legislative Committee Chair Gretchen Pruett, legislative consultants Marty De Leon and MJ Nicchio, Assistant State Librarian Gloria Meraz, and State Librarian Mark Smith to get insights into the session, TSLAC’s budget, and TLA’s priorities.
