Share:

The District 9 Conference/Meeting will be on Saturday, October 30th from 9 am to 4 pm at the Mahon Public Library (1306 9th St, Lubbock, TX 79401).  This meeting will be in person and socially distanced seating will be provided, as well as a commemorative mask for the day.

The keynote speaker is Kelsey Bogan, MSLIS.  Kelsey is the Library Media Specialist at Great Valley High School in Malvern, PA.  Kelsey has a wealth of information on everything from Collection Diversity Audits to Developing inclusive library spaces, but for our keynote, Kelsey is going to speak about Building a Dynamic Social Media Presence with an emphasis on TikTok for Librarians.

Another featured speaker for the event is Emma Bedor Hiland, author of Therapy Tech: The Digital Transformation of Mental Healthcare.  Mental Health is an exceedingly popular topic needed in all aspects of the library field.  Hiland’s talk will include a discussion of mental health, tech, and popular culture (and how they all overlap).  Hiland will also discuss her knowledge of feminist media studies in a community-facing presentation appropriate for all type of library related communities.

Registration for this event is $20 and lunch and a gift bag will be provided to all attendees.  We will also have door prizes, so wear your lucky hat!  Please complete your registration at the link below.
