District 9 meeting

$20The District 9 Conference/Meeting will be on Saturday, October 30th from 9 am to 4 pm at the Mahon Public Library (1306 9th St, Lubbock, TX 79401). This meeting will be in person and socially distanced seating will be provided, as well as a commemorative mask for the day.

The keynote speaker is Kelsey Bogan, MSLIS. Kelsey is the Library Media Specialist at Great Valley High School in Malvern, PA. Kelsey has a wealth of information on everything from Collection Diversity Audits to Developing inclusive library spaces, but for our keynote, Kelsey is going to speak about Building a Dynamic Social Media Presence with an emphasis on TikTok for Librarians.
Another featured speaker for the event is Emma Bedor Hiland, author of Therapy Tech: The Digital Transformation of Mental Healthcare. Mental Health is an exceedingly popular topic needed in all aspects of the library field. Hiland’s talk will include a discussion of mental health, tech, and popular culture (and how they all overlap). Hiland will also discuss her knowledge of feminist media studies in a community-facing presentation appropriate for all type of library related communities.
