Legislative Advocacy Training at the Capitol
October 17 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm
$20Registration is closed. The registration deadline was October 14, 2024.
Get ready for a dynamic day at the Texas Capitol focused on learning, engaging, and connecting! Join us for a hands-on legislative advocacy workshop designed to empower you with the skills and confidence you need to stand up for libraries and librarians.
As we gear up for the 89th Texas Legislature, convening on January 14, 2025, now is the time to prepare. But how do we get ahead of the curve? By engaging, learning from experts, and sharing our experiences with one another.
Senator José Menéndez, a strong advocate for libraries and member of the Senate Education Committee, will be our keynote speaker. He’ll share his firsthand insights on how librarians can flip the script, counter the negative narratives, and build strong support for the essential work libraries do.
You’ll learn directly from a panel of legislative staffers and experienced library advocates, who will offer insider tips on effectively communicating with elected officials and becoming a trusted resource.
Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to drop by your legislator’s office in the Capitol, develop your top advocacy talking points, and leave with an action plan.
Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or just getting started, this day is all about getting involved, sharing your passion, and gaining the confidence to be a powerful voice for libraries. Don’t miss this powerful, interactive opportunity to sharpen your advocacy skills while connecting with others who share your mission. Let’s make an impact together!
