National Library Week, taking place April 19–25, 2026, is a time to celebrate the vital role libraries and library professionals play in our communities. This year’s theme, “A Celebration of Library Joy,” highlights the meaningful, everyday moments that make libraries such essential and uplifting spaces.

This year’s celebration features Mychal Threets as the Honorary Chair of National Library Week. Mychal was a featured speaker at the TLA 2026 Annual Conference. Mychal’s library joy reflects a shared commitment to find joy at the library.

The American Library Association has created a dedicated webpage with tools and promotional materials that librarians and library staff can use throughout the week. Photo of Mychal Threets at the recent TLA 2026 Annual Conference in Houston.
