November Staff Spotlight – Catherine Lapoint

Name: Catherine Lapoint
Position: Administrative Services Manager
Year started: 2021
What are your job responsibilities at TLA?
I am the contact for accounts receivables and accounts payable at TLA. I assist with District finances, financial reports, scholarships and stipends, and expense reports. I am also the contact for all TLA store orders.
Tell us three things about yourself:
- I am originally from a very small town in Louisiana called Lake Arthur.
- I have a rescue dog named Carl. He came from an abusive household, so he was very scared and timid at first. He is slowly coming out of his shell and learning to trust people. It is a beautiful thing to see him happy and healthy!
- I am truly obsessed with Trader Joe’s and love creating recipes using their products. My old roommate and I loved it so much, that we created an Instagram page devoted to the products we find and love. The account is called Cheddar Joe’s, a name dedicated to our love of cheese boards and Trader Joe’s.
What’s a book, movie, album or podcast you enjoyed recently that you’d recommend and why?
I just finished The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn and it was amazing! I could not put the book down once I got down to the final 100 pages. The story is chilling, heartbreaking, and suspenseful. The characters have so much dimension and the ending had me on the edge of my seat! I highly recommend.
What’s your favorite place in Texas?
I have only visited a few cities in Texas, but I always love spending time in San Antonio. I love all the wonderful restaurants, the culture surrounding the city, and the friendly people I have encountered.
What is your favorite part about your job?
I have to say that my favorite part of my job so far has been how friendly all our members are! I joined TLA right before our 2021 Annual Conference, and everyone I spoke to was so welcoming and patient with me as I learned the ropes of my new role.
