September TLA Staff Spotlight: Christy Reynolds
In our new TLA Staff Spotlight series, you will meet a member of our team each month. It’s part of our effort to make sure you know who the TLA staff is, so you’re more familiar with us when you need to contact us. We love to hear from members!
Name: Christy Reynolds
Position: Membership Coordinator
Year started: 2021
What are your job responsibilities at TLA? I assist with all membership-related questions, oversee scholarship and awards, aid with registration for any meetings, and oversee stewardship for unit officers and volunteers.
Tell us three things about yourself: I’m an avid live music fan. I worked concert and festival security for nine years, allowing me to see tons of artists and meet a few of them backstage! My favorite hobby is singing karaoke, especially live-band karaoke. I also love kayaking on the weekends during the warm months.
What’s a book, movie, album or podcast you enjoyed recently that you’d recommend and why? Call Your Girlfriend is a fantastic podcast about two long-distance besties that call each other every week and have conversations about the latest in politics and touch on pop culture. The hosts are Ann Friedman and Aminatou Sow. I started listening when my friends began moving away after graduation and continued listening because it’s a fantastic way to digest current events through a feminist lens.
What’s your favorite place in Texas? My favorite place in Texas is Austin. All my favorite spots are here, so when people come to visit, I fall in love with Austin all over again.
What is your favorite part about your job? So far, the best part about my job is being on such an excellent team and hearing about the work that librarians are doing in their communities and the lives they’re reaching.
