Alison Urban

Director of Administration

What are your job responsibilities at TLA?  I oversee the administrative functions, including office management, finance, accounting, budgeting, and Human Resources.

Tell us three things about yourself.

  1. I love to travel and visit libraries. Whenever we visit a new city, I make a point of seeking out a local library. I have toured many different types of libraries, both modern and historical.
  2. I enjoy spending time with my family and German Shepherd, Laci.
  3. I like to sew and be creative by upcycling clothing.

What’s a book, movie, album or podcast you enjoyed recently that you’d recommend and why? I love good stories of all kinds.  When I am out walking, you can find me listening to NPR favorites such as Selected Shorts or Snap Judgement.  I enjoy reading from a wide variety of genres. I recently enjoyed A Prince of Swindlers by Guy Boothby and Bonfire Night by Anna Bliss.

What’s your favorite place in Texas? I love living in Austin.  It has grown so much that there is always something new to do or see.

What would you like to share with members about TLA that they might not know?  TLA is a welcoming place.  The board and staff strive to make everyone feel valued and use their talents to thoughtfully serve the members.
