The Texas Library Association (TLA) holds as a core value diversity and inclusiveness. Over the past several years TLA has worked more intentionally toward equity, diversity, and inclusion by engaging in open conversations, reviewing and evaluating our Diversity Action Plan, and identifying opportunities to begin shifting all aspects of the association to be more accessible and welcoming to all members.

TLA is pleased to announce our partnership with Achieve More LLC to conduct a series of officer learning sessions and consult on the development of a competency-based EDI curriculum for members. President and CEO Mariama Boney, LMSW, CAE, CPEC will serve as principal consultant, along with her team.

“TLA’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion across all facets of the organization comes from a board and member driven need to advance our practices, structures, and opportunities for service, learning and leadership.  Prioritization of EDI will help TLA grow as an association to better serve our members and in turn help them best serve their communities in Texas.” shared Executive Director, Shirley Robinson.

Achieve More LLC CEO Mariama Boney said, “TLA has a timely commitment to grow and expand equity, diversity, and inclusion. I am excited to partner on development of an EDI series and look forward to meeting volunteer leaders.”

In the coming months, volunteers, leaders, and TLA members will have opportunities to share feedback about this effort connected to our work with Achieve More LLC.
