TLA is utilizing a self-reporting form for event attendees to claim professional development education (CPE) credit.
The Texas Library Association is an approved provider of professional development by the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) and the Texas State Library & Archives Commission in the state of Texas. The individual is responsible for working with their employer to determine if sessions meet their professional development needs.
Please use this form as a record of your attendance. Write the title, date, and session length in the spaces provided. In general, a one-hour session is the equivalent of one hour of professional development CPE credit. For sessions that include a meal function, please subtract 45 minutes from the session length. It is the responsibility of the individual to maintain records of the sessions they attended. Retain this sheet as verification for your employer and personal records.

TSLAC CPE credit: TSLAC encourages public library staff to pursue continuing education and lifelong learning. TSLAC CPE is intended to facilitate achievement of professional education goals for the public library community and to support the effective operations of the libraries they serve. TSLAC considers continuing education activities to be instructional and free of lobbying. TSLAC CE may be applicable to appropriate sessions at conferences. Time is assigned according to standard conference/training sessions: one hour CE for every 50 – 60 minutes of content; half an hour for 20 to 30 minutes of instruction. Programs that relate to advocacy, author programs (without instruction on specific teaching or library-related techniques), or topics not related to professional practice or growth do not meet TSLAC CE requirements. Participants, together with their supervisors, are in the best position to determine which sessions are most relevant to local needs and the operation of the library. TSLAC CE covers professional instruction time at sessions.
