Requirements & Curriculum

TALL Texans Institute pre-requisites, topics, and related projects.

Applications are now closed.

Applications must be received by June 2, midnight.  TALL Texans 2024 will be held in person November 21-23 in Georgetown, Texas.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of experience working in libraries (in any library, at any level; service need not be in any single library and can be over any amount of time). Degree in library science is not required.
  • Membership in the Texas Library Association by the application deadline.
  • Desire to improve yourself, libraries, and communities; ability to turn training into action.
  • $1,200 registration fee, which includes all instruction, classroom materials, and room & board. Transportation is not included.

  • Interpersonal communication in leadership roles

  • Organizational change: transforming libraries
  • Appreciative Inquiry
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Developing others: empowerment, motivation, coaching, mentoring
  • Planning career and leadership development

Timeline of the application process

  • Application open
  • June 2  – Deadline by midnight
  • June 23 – Selection Committee finalizes roster
  • June 28  – All applicants informed of status by this date
  • August-October – 3 preliminary webinars will be scheduled for participants in this time
  • November 21-23  – TALL Texans takes place in person (Thursday-Saturday)
