Top 5 Reasons to Implement the Bluebonnet Program

  1. Engaging Curated Book List: Each year, a committee of librarians selects 20 outstanding books tailored for 3rd-6th graders, ensuring a diverse and high-quality reading experience for students.
  2. Student Empowerment: The program encourages students to read at least five books from the list, giving them the exciting opportunity to vote for their favorite. This fosters a sense of ownership and enthusiasm for reading.
  3. Comprehensive Free Resources: The Texas Bluebonnet Award program offers a wealth of free resources, including book trailers, readers’ theaters, and a variety of activities and projects. These materials make it easy for librarians to create engaging and educational experiences.
  4. Versatile Lesson Planning: With the extensive resources provided, librarians can design lesson plans that span multiple months, integrating the Texas Bluebonnet Award books into their curriculum seamlessly.
  5. Community and Collaboration: Participating in the Texas Bluebonnet Award program connects your library to a larger community of educators and students across Texas, fostering collaboration and sharing of ideas and experiences.
