District 1

Serving the Big Country and Concho Valley regions of Texas.

Welcome to District 1! Our district’s membership includes librarians, staff, trustees, full-time library students, and other interested individuals representing school, public, academic, and special libraries. We are located in the Big Country and Concho Valley regions of Mid-West and West Texas.

Volunteer

District 1 includes 32 Texas counties with a total population of 473,203 covering over 34,257 square miles. Counties include: Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Comanche, Concho, Crockett, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Irion, Jones, Kent, Kimble, Knox, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Mitchell, Nolan, Reagan, Runnels, Shackelford, Schleicher, Scurry, Stephens, Sterling, Stonewall, Sutton, Taylor, Throckmorton andd Tom Green.

The major metropolitan areas within this region are Abilene (MSA pop. 157,322) and San Angelo (MSA pop. 104,830).
