District 1

Welcome to District 1! Our district’s membership includes librarians, staff, trustees, full-time library students, and other interested individuals representing school, public, academic, and special libraries. We are located in the Big Country and Concho Valley regions of Mid-West and West Texas.

Volunteer

District 1 includes 32 Texas counties with a total population of 473,203 covering over 34,257 square miles. Counties include Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Comanche, Concho, Crockett, Eastland, Fisher, Haskell, Irion, Jones, Kent, Kimble, Knox, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Mitchell, Nolan, Reagan, Runnels, Shackelford, Schleicher, Scurry, Stephens, Sterling, Stonewall, Sutton, Taylor, Throckmorton, and Tom Green.

The major metropolitan areas within this region are Abilene (MSA pop. 157,322) and San Angelo (MSA pop. 104,830).
