Texas Library Association’s New Core Values

The Texas Library Association (TLA) executive board has adopted new core values reflecting our commitment to embracing, uniting, and amplifying the voices of the Texas library community. This update will shape the work of association members, staff, and partners in collaboration and cultivating a welcoming, supportive environment for all. 

The new five core values are: 

  • Community: TLA fosters an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone.
  • Professional Growth: TLA believes that individual growth is vital for a thriving library community. 
  • Forward Thinking: TLA is dedicated to shaping the future of libraries. 
  • Intellectual Freedom: TLA champions equitable access to information and ideas. 
  • Libraries are Essential: TLA recognizes that libraries and their professionals are vital to all Texas communities.
