PROGRAM AGENDA
In March 2023, the Chronicle of Higher Education said, “The Librarians Are Not OK”. Librarians are tasked with emotional labor, decreasing resources, and increasing demands. They may be experiencing reduced support systems in their workplace or community, and feel underappreciated or at least as if the community that relies on them doesn’t understand all that they contribute. And that’s just the work part, not to mention the life stress part. And yet, conversations around burnout, for all professions, often center around individual fixes and failings: pushing self-care as the sole fix for what is really a systemic problem. This session, led by Rachel Boehm, a leading authority in burnout, stress, and performance, will bust common burnout myths, and go beyond those quick fixes that don’t seem to fix anything, to share the real causes of burnout and Science-Backed, People-Proven™ strategies to prevent burnout or recover from it.
Presenter, Rachel Boehm, is a leading authority on burnout and sustainable high performance. She empowers decision-makers to protect themselves and their teams against the direct and indirect costs of burnout and workplace stress. Her services include private coaching, manager and business unit training, and firm-wide burnout assessments, enhancing employee engagement, performance, health, retention, and client satisfaction. She holds a national board certification in health and wellness coaching and is a PhD candidate focused on business psychology and worker well-being.
Presenter: Representative Erin Zwiener is an author, educator, and conservationist who is currently serving her third term in the Texas House of Representatives. She is committed to fighting for Texas values of healthy communities, inclusivity, and common-sense government. Rep. Zwiener is a strong, vocal supporter of Texas libraries.
Leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about the moments we choose to elevate those around us. In this reflective and energizing closing session, we’ll explore how small acts of leadership can create lasting impact through storytelling, gratitude, and the power of acknowledgment.
Speaker: Dr. Manda Rosser is a leadership and organizational development specialist who offers clients an individualized approach tailored to meet their needs. With twenty-five years of experience including teaching leadership and organizational development, Manda enjoys helping organizations build positive culture to achieve results. She utilizes her background in agriculture and farming, her doctoral work in human resource development along with her experiences as a faculty member at Texas A&M University to connect with and engage audiences through facilitated activities.
