A need to develop or enhance a particular program.
A need to support a particular part of the curriculum.
Christina B. Woll Memorial Fund FAQ
Who can apply
Any Texas public or school library that serves children 12 or under. Applicant must be a TLA member.
Can a current Scholarship & Grants Committee member or a librarian from a this Committee member's affiliated school district, public library, or private library apply for a grant?
No, not during that librarian’s tenure as a committee member.
What are some general application tips?
Read the entire application and all instructions before starting to prepare your responses.
Pre-composing your responses to paste into the online form is recommended; a hard copy version (doc) is available for your reference.
DO NOT omit any questions.
Clearly and concisely state the purpose of the project.
Be specific when explaining the project. Include the dollar amount for funding of your project as well as specific examples of the content or subject area or genre or series the grant money would be used for rather than a broad statement.
Have someone read your grant proposal before you submit it.
When/how will the grant applicants be notified of the committee's decisions?
Before TLA Annual Conference registration is due.
The chair of the committee will notify the award recipients by email.
All other applicants will be notified by the chair by email.
Will grant recipients receive formal recognition at the TLA Annual Conference?
No, the grant winners will not need to attend the TLA Annual Conference in order to receive the grant.
How will the grant be administered if I successfully receive funding?
The check will be sent to the library at the end of the Annual Conference.
Can a library reapply if it has been awarded a Christina B. Woll grant in the past?
Yes, but it must be 3 years since they were awarded the grant. Example: Award in 2012 can reapply in 2016.
