This fund was established to perpetuate Christina Woll’s love of reading and commitment to providing quality literature for children. Based on the merits of individual applications, awards of up to $1,000 will be granted prior to the TLA Annual Conference to Texas school or public libraries that demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • A commitment to providing a collection of quality children’s literature.
  • A need to develop or enhance a particular part of the overall collection.
  • A need to develop or enhance a particular program.
  • A need to support a particular part of the curriculum.

Applications for the 2026 Christina B. Woll Memorial Fund Grant are due January 15.

No, not during that librarian’s tenure as a committee member.

  • Read the entire application and all instructions before starting to prepare your responses.
  • Pre-composing your responses to paste into the online form is recommended; a hard copy version (doc) is available for your reference.
  • DO NOT omit any questions.
  • Clearly and concisely state the purpose of the project.
  • Be specific when explaining the project. Include the dollar amount for funding of your project as well as specific examples of the content or subject area or genre or series the grant money would be used for rather than a broad statement.
  • Have someone read your grant proposal before you submit it.
  • Before TLA Annual Conference registration is due.
  • The chair of the committee will notify the award recipients by email.
  • All other applicants will be notified by the chair by email.
  • No, the grant winners will not need to attend the TLA Annual Conference in order to receive the grant.
  • The check will be sent to the library at the end of the annual conference.

Yes, but it must be 3 years since they were awarded the grant. Example: Award in 2012 can reapply in 2016.
