Texas residents between the ages of 4 and 20.
Participants must be sponsored by a public or school librarian, who submits the entry on the student’s behalf.
Judged by a panel of impartial, qualified volunteers.
Each category has established judging criteria.
Judges cannot score entries from students they have mentored.
Medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and honorable mentions.
Top overall entry receives the Bob Bennett “Best of Show” Award.
Winners are announced and honored at the TLA Annual Conference.

Each category has specific guidelines. Please review category-specific instructions before submitting.
Sponsorship Requirements:Each entry must be sponsored and submitted by a public or school librarian. A library may submit up to 10 entries per grade division per category.
Entry Limits:Students may only enter once per category and may not submit both an individual and group entry in the same category.
Collaboration:Entries may be individual or group submissions. Group size impacts the entry fee.
Copyright Compliance:All projects must comply with copyright law. Entries believed to infringe copyright will be disqualified or not publicly shown at the awards ceremony.
Documentation:Librarians are expected to keep the signed Student Work and Copyright Certification Release Form on file.
Entries must adhere strictly to all applicable copyright laws and guidelines. The Texas Library Association reserves the right to disqualify any entry based on a reasonable belief that the entry has infringed the copyright laws of the U.S. or any other country.
These fees help offset the cost of awards and ceremony production:
Individual entry: $10
Group entry (2–10 students): $10
Group entry (11–20 students): $20
Group entry (21–30 students): $30

All entries must comply with U.S. copyright law. If you’re unfamiliar with how copyright applies to K–12 education, we recommend reviewing CyberBee’s Copyright Resources and Educational CyberPlayground. Please keep in mind that exemptions for classroom use may not apply to public performances. As such, the Texas Library Association reserves the right to exclude any entry from public display at the awards ceremony if there is a reasonable concern that it may violate copyright law.
Note: Student Work and Copyright Certification Release Form are no longer required to be submitted with entries. However, sponsoring librarians must retain signed copies of the form from both the student and their parent or guardian.
